Position 5 - Greg Gripon
Greg Gripon grew up in League City, Texas. He is the son of Lorene and Lynn Gripon.
He was involved in the Future Farmers of America and an active swimmer in the League City Barracudas swim team. Gripon received many awards in the FFA, as well as the Lone Star Farmer degree and attended the League City United Methodist Church.
Gripon is proud to be a hometown Clear Creek High School graduate, Class of 1985. He followed his passion and furthered his studies attending college at Texas State Technical Institute (TSTI), where he achieved his Associates Degree in Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture Technology.
He is also a graduate of League City's Citizen University and the League City Citizens Police Academy.
Gripon met the love of his life, LaTonnia, while at TSTI and were married in her hometown of Marble Falls, Texas in 1987. After their wedding, they settled in League City to start their lives together and work in the family-owned business. Gripon and his wife are now the current owners of Lynn's Landscaping which was started by his parents in 1951 to serve the League City Area.
The Gripon's were blessed with their first child, Justin Gripon, in 1991 and their second child, Ashley Gripon, in 1995. Their lives were forever changed and blessed beyond measure. Gripon lives every day to what his parents instilled in him: to always have respect, morals and integrity towards others, and to keep the faith.
Gripon was instrumental in the startup of the League City Merchants Business Association which is now better known as the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce. He has also been a proud member of the League City Lions Club since 1990. His wife, LaTonnia, joined in 2002 and his children, Justin and Ashley, are now third generation members.
The entire family volunteers each year with the League City Music Festival and BBQ Cook-off, also known as the Village Fair. He is also the former President of the League City Lions Club and has received the Melvin Jones, Jack Wiech Fellow and Lion of the Year awards. Gripon is also a current board member of the Lions Club and League City Proud and serves as the Chairman of the Music Festival.
Gripon’s entire family are extremely proud to have a League City Park named after his father, "Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside."
Gripon believes that League City is truly blessed as one of the most amazing communities in our country! The future of our historic city holds so much hope, love and growth. League City’s future has so many vibrant dreams just ready to be put into action.
New businesses are seeking out League City for all of our unique assets. Our town is desirable and attractive to new growth. Dealing with this growth takes serious attention in communicating the much needed foresight in planning. We must have knowledgeable, great employees working for our city that represent our honest values and looking out for the community's best interest, leaving no stone unturned. Planning our future belongs to the community and those who live and play here. As a city council Member, Greg will continue his love and dedication towards League City, as he has done for the past 50 years. He will always be accessible to all the citizens of League City. Greg is an open book that will listen to and hear the desires of all our citizens, and will strive to attend to all the concerns and dreams of League City’s proud community.
