Share ideas for projects, themes, and locations by taking a survey
League City is developing a Public Art Program with the goal of creating art in public spaces for residents and visitors to our City to enjoy. Investing in public art is a standard best practice of competitive, growing cities in Texas and nationally. Our investments will be guided by elected officials, city staff, consultants with expertise in the field, and with citizen volunteers who serve on the Keep League City Beautiful Committee. Local, Texas, and potentially national artists will be invited to apply for paid commissions to create unique art for League City.
The City has engaged a Houston civic art consulting firm, UP Art Studio, to assist us with the planning for this program. The focus of their work is to identify specific project and site opportunities using their expertise along with input from staff and citizens. Their approach will include both public art installations and placemaking – that is, the practice of creating inclusive “people places” that enhance public space, quality of life, and economic development.
League City residents and business owners are encouraged to provide their perspectives and input by taking a short survey. The answers provided will help identify potential projects, themes, and locations and shape the consultant’s final recommendation to League City staff and council.
If you’re an artist or patron of the arts and are interested in becoming involved in the City’s Public Art Initiative email Sarah Greer Osborne.
