Bayou Brae Subdivision Drainage Improvements

Budget

$1,056,000

Scope of Work

This project will remove and replace existing storm sewer mains along Bayou Drive from approximately Viola Drive to Woodwind Way and along Woodwind Way from Bayou Drive. The existing storm sewer will be upsized to 30 inches or 36 inches of Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP). The existing inlets (8 total) will need to be investigated and modified as needed to allow for the full capture of road run-off during 1% exceedance events. The pavement along Bayou Drive and Woodwind Way, within the project limits, will need to be replaced as part of this project. Additionally, the scope will include the design and construction of 1% exceedance overflow swales for Bayou Drive and Brae Lane.

Subdivisions, Areas, or Streets Impacted

Bayou Drive, Woodwind Way, and Brae Lane

Project Status as of August 2022

The project staff selected and executed a professional service agreement with ARKK Engineers to prepare a preliminary technical report to identify the drainage improvements with estimated pipe sizes and associated paving reconstruction required to accomplish the drainage improvements. Budgetary cost estimates will also be provided. The proposed storm sewer trunk is to be constructed along Bayou Drive and Woodwind Way out falling into Robinson Bayou. Additionally, the City’s consultant will evaluate additional outfalls from Brae Lane directly into Robinson Bayou. The consultant was issued a Notice to Proceed (NTP) on July 25, 2022 and is currently working on gathering and reviewing existing historical data, as-builts, and drainage reports for the area.
