League City crews, along with a contractor, are working to
repair a large sinkhole and sewer line break that occurred late in the
afternoon on Thursday, January 2, on Butler Road between the southbound I-45
feeder road and League City Parkway.
The sinkhole is approximately 10 feet long by 6 feet wide
and 10 feet deep, and is located just outside the Butler Road Lift Station
(1220 Butler Rd) just south of Mustang Cat equipment rental.
City Street and Traffic crews, at around 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, closed an approximately 300 foot stretch of both the northbound and southbound lanes of Butler Road to allow contractors to begin repairs. This closure will be in place until all repairs are made, which is estimated at 7 to 10 days, weather permitting.
During this time, there WILL be two-way traffic on
each side of the closure and drivers WILL have access to the local businesses.
However, depending on what side of the closure the business is on, drivers will
need to access the business from either I-45 or from League City Parkway.
Large trucks will not have room to turn around and should
avoid this route until the roadway is opened back up.
