[ARCHIVED] It’s a Frightfully Fun October in League City!

It’s a Frightfully Fun October in League City!

If your kids are anything like mine, they’ve been talking about their Halloween costumes since last November 1st. Halloween is the one day of the year they can be whatever they want. And if you’re anything like me, one day doesn’t seem like enough, when you’ve spent a pretty penny for those aforementioned costumes.

But listen up. Throughout the whole month of October, League City has tons of spooktacular events where kids are encouraged to dress up! Get your money’s worth out of those costumes, and give your kiddos more opportunities to flaunt their awesome attire.

I know I’m going to enjoy this month of dress up and imagination, and take tons of photos so one day when my kids are “too cool” to dress up, I can smile back on these sweet memories.

Mark your calendars for these frightfully fun events!

League City Harvest Festival

Saturday, Oct. 19th• 10am–2pm

This free event is an annual League City favorite, with the nostalgic feel of a charming, small-town fall festival. Dress the kids up so they can participate in the costume contest, and if you’re really competitive, sign up for the pumpkin-carving contest, too! There will also be an artisans market where you can do some shopping, food trucks, free face painting, hayrides, kid’s crafts, games, and more. The festival will take place at League Park, on Main Street in League City’s Historic District. Learn more here.

The costume contest will be split up into three age categories (up to 10 years old), with gift card prizes awarded to the top three in each category. With a DJ, food, pumpkin crafts, and plenty of photo opportunities, you won’t want to miss this Halloween bash, held at Elite Care 24hr ER in League City. Learn more here.

Register for the inaugural ICAN Boo Dash, and run like ghosts are chasing you! The Halloween-themed race at Challenger Columbia Stadium will feature a 1K kids fun run, and a 5k race for adults. Dress up in a costume that won’t trip you up, and enjoy a fun-filled morning of running, along with trick-or-treating, a costume contest, and a haunted tunnel. Everyone’s favorite bloodsucking dad, Count Dracula, stars in the third installment of this kid-friendly cartoon twist on the classic villain. Hosted by Helen Hall Library, kids are welcome to wear their costumes, and there will be free popcorn for them to enjoy, as well.

Haunted House at Fire Station 4

Saturday, Oct. 26th• 6pm–10pm

Join other brave souls and walk through Fire Station 4’s Annual Haunted House. The theme this year is “Haunted Dollhouse,” which sounds incredibly creepy…and perfect for a good Halloween scare! This free event is recommended for children 12 and up (kids under 12 at parent’s discretion), and parental supervision is required. The firehouse is located at 175 W. Bay Area Blvd., a few blocks south of Countryside Park. You’re encouraged to donate canned food items to help stock our local food pantry, but donation is not required for entry.
