League City’s Helen Hall Library will reopen on Monday, January 13 at 10 a.m. The library has been closed since December 18 when an overnight water leak dumped more than 650 gallons of water into the facility and caused extensive damage. Renovation and repair work will continue at the building, including the installation of new shelving and the placement and organization of books and materials back into the area that flooded. The building’s elevator is still being repaired, but several computers from the second floor have been moved to the ground floor to accommodate patrons who cannot use the stairs.
Much of the library’s programming will resume on January 13 as well, however, some programs that normally occur in the library’s theater will be held at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center and others may not resume until later in the month or in early February. For the most updated listing of library programming visit the Helen Hall Library’s Facebook page or website calendar at website calendar
Insurance adjusters are still calculating the dollar amount of the damage. Luckily, damage from the leak was limited to the east side of the building and did not impact any books.
