[ARCHIVED] Galveston County COVID-19 Positive Case Count Rises to 450

On Saturday, April 18, the Galveston County Health District reported 12 new positive COVID-19 cases in Galveston County residents. This brings the county’s case total to 450. 

There is also on additional death

  • A male, age range 81-90, passed away April 15. He had pre-existing medical conditions.

GCHD is reporting two additional recoveries, bringing the total to 193. In League City, 67 residents who have tested positive are now recovered. GCHD is releasing a new graphic that breaks down recovered patients by city, age range, and gender. See below.

Recovered cases April 18

On April 18, the health district tested a total of 326 people (86 in Galveston and 240 in Texas City) through its free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site. To date, 1,770 tests have been performed with 27 positive and 1,060 negative results reported back to the health district. All other results are currently pending. Testing is not limited to just Galveston County residents, but only county residents who tested positive for COVID-19 will be included in the health district’s daily case update.

Two sites are currently offering free COVID-19 testing to anyone, regardless of symptoms. Those who want to be tested must make an appointment.

  • Testing is available in Texas City at the Galveston County Health District, 9850 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway. To make an appointment in Texas City, please call 409.978.4040.
