[ARCHIVED] Galveston County COVID-19 Positive Case Count at 672

galveston county healht district

On Thursday, May 7, the Galveston County Health District reported three new positive COVID-19 cases in Galveston County residents. This brings the county’s case total to 672.

Please note there is a backlog of pending test results to be reported to the health district. This is more than likely the reason for today’s low new case count.

There are 12 additional recoveries, bringing that total to 394.

Of the county’s 672 cases, 253 are tied to long-term care facilities. This count includes residents and employees. Cities that have seen a large number of cases tied to long-term care facilities are noted on our daily case update graphic. Twenty-five of the 28 deaths reported to date by the health district are related to long-term care facilities in Galveston County.

On May 7,, the health district tested 131 people in Texas City through its free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site. To date, 4,840 tests have been performed with 84 positive and 4,129 negative results reported back to the health district. All other results are currently pending. Testing is not limited to just Galveston County residents, but only county residents who tested positive for COVID-19 will be included in the health district’s daily case update.

To date, 19,784 Galveston County residents have been tested. This number does not include Galveston County residents who may have been tested outside the county.
