[ARCHIVED] New City Guidelines for Waste Disposal

trash and flush

In an effort to protect the health of our trash collectors, the City of League City is urging residents to follow new guidelines when disposing trash.

Residents are asked to place all trash and recycling in a bag before placing it in a garbage receptacle, trash can, or recycle bin. This will ensure workers are protected from direct contact from trash and waste during the collection process. Clear bags are preferred for recycling, but regular trash bags will be accepted. No loose items in bins will be picked up.

For questions or concerns, contact the City’s Solid Waste Coordinator Ann Williams at 281 554-1411.

In addition, the City’s Waste Water Department is also reminding the community to refrain from flushing paper towels, baby wipes, or flushable wipes down the toilet. All of these items DO NOT dissolve in our sewer system. They collect in pumps and valves causing clogs, which can lead to dangerous sewage spills. Keeping sewer systems up and running is crucial during the coronavirus outbreak. The ONLY thing that should be flushed is toilet paper. Please discard of paper towels and wipes in the trash can, and remember the simple phrase,” Think before you flush.”
