[ARCHIVED] Council Creates Emergency Turnaround Task Force

At their meeting on April 14, the League City Council voted to create a turnaround taskforce that will develop a plan to address League City’s economic recovery from the impacts of COVID 19. The plan will supplement the state’s phased approach to re-opening businesses which was announced by Governor Abbott on April 17. Click here to see the Governor’s order.

The newly formed taskforce will assist small-business owners and individuals hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. One of the goals of the task force is to create a centralized internet database of all the resources available during the coronavirus pandemic. These resources would cover mental and physical health, financial assistance, employment information, and assistance to businesses and residents.

“The idea is to help as many people in the community as possible,” said Scott Livingston, League City’s Economic Development Director and a member of the task force. “So, we’re talking about citizens, we’re talking about business, we’re talking about anybody and everybody who’s a stakeholder in the community.”

Members of the task force include city staff members, councilmembers, and representatives from local businesses, hospitals, and the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce. The first taskforce meeting will be held next week.
