[ARCHIVED] Nuisance Odor

Incident Update

On Sunday, August 15 at 10:12 p.m., an odor incident tied to a rail car vapor release occurred at a Lubrizol facility in Deer Park. Lubrizol, a provider of specialty chemicals, is reporting a vapor release of organic sulfur in our area which is causing a nuisance odor. Below is their latest update and information on the incident:

There is NO shelter in place for League City. Most of the odor from the incident last night at Lubrizol in Deer Park has dissipated, however there may still be a strong presence in some areas of League City.

While the smell may irritate your throat and eyes, no actionable health threat levels have been detected by Harris County Pollution Control air monitors. In addition, our own League City Volunteer Fire Department has  been using mobile air monitors throughout the morning and no detectable levels have been found.
