[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Nicholas Headed to Texas

Tropical Storm Nicholas has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and forecasts indicate it is headed to Texas. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from Port Aransas to High Island. A Storm Surge Watch is in effect from the Mouth of the Rio Grande to High Island. Landfall is expected late Monday to early Tuesday with a very slow motion across SE Texas through the end of the week. Rainfall amounts over the next three days are estimated to be around 5 to 10 inches, though isolated amounts of 15 inches or higher are possible. This could cause street flooding in neighborhoods, roadways, and highways, throughout our area. Never drive through a flooded roadway. Peak Storm Surge for Galveston Bay could reach two to four feet during high tide.
