[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Nicholas Headed to Texas

Tropical Storm Nicholas

Tropical Storm Nicholas has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and forecasts indicate it is headed to Texas. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from Port Aransas to High Island, which includes League City.  A Storm Surge Watch is in effect from the Mouth of the Rio Grande to High Island. Landfall is expected late Monday to early Tuesday with a very slow motion across SE Texas through the end of the week. Our area could see anywhere from 8 to 12 inches over the next several days.  We should all plan for the possibility of street flooding. City crews have been working hard to clear storm drains throughout the city. PLEASE HELP US KEEP DRAINS CLEAR to ensure our drainage system works as designed. It’s also important to secure loose items around your homes that could end up blocking our storm drains, and avoid parking on streets that flood
