[ARCHIVED] New Sign Highlights Non-Profits Serving League City

civic club sign

League City now has a monument sign to highlight the various civic clubs, groups, and non-profits that serve our community. The sign is located along Highway 3 next to the City's entryway sign near Walter Hall Park. The twelve civic groups and non-profits paid a nominal fee to have their names and logos included on the sign throughout 2022. They include:

  • The Friends of the Helen Hall Library
  • League City Pets Alive
  • League City Proud
  • The League City Garden Club
  • The League City Historical Society
  • The League City Regional Chamber of Commerce
  • The League City Lions Club
  • The League City Rotary Club
  • Interfaith Caring Ministries
  • Anchor Pont

Civic clubs or non-profits wanting to have a plaque displayed on the sign in 2023 must meet the criteria listed below, and fill out an application in November of 2022.

  • Must be a non-profit 501(c)3, civic organization exclusively based in League City or an approved chapter of an international, national, state or county organization that serves League City residents; and
  • Must be engaged in activities that in some way promote the common good and general welfare of the League City community (excluded activities include political activities, operating a social club for members, sports, and recreational clubs, and conducting business with the general public in a manner generally similar to a for-profit organization).

Per the Civic Club Monument Sign Policy adopted by the League City Council in July of 2021, The Keep League City Beautiful Committee, a citizen committee that is appointed by the Mayor, will select, and approve the twelve organizations for the twelve plaques based on the priority order listed below.

  1. A civic organization exclusively based in League City that is engaged in activities that in some way promote the common good and general welfare of the League City community.
  2.  A League City chapter of a county or state-based civic organization that is engaged in activities that in some way promote the common good and general welfare of the League City community.
  3. A League City chapter of a national or international-based civic organization that is engaged in activities that in some way promote the common good and general welfare of the League City community.

If the number of applicants is over 12, a lottery system, using the priority list, will be used to determine the final selection.

Fee, Payment, and Placement

The placement order of the twelve plaques on the monument sign will be randomly determined by a lottery/drawing process each year.  Plaques will not be placed on the sign until the City, and the City-selected vendor creating the plaque, have been paid in full.

Yearly Fee Schedule

1. $100 for civic organizations exclusively based in League City.

2. $250 for a League City chapter of a county or state-based civic organization.

3. $500 for a League City chapter of a national or international-based civic organization.
