[ARCHIVED] Understanding the City's Budget and Use of Your Tax Dollars

Brochures with arrows pointing at budget buytes brochure.

Over the past six months, all League City departments have been working with the City’s Budget Department and City Manager to create a proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2023, which starts October 1, 2022. To learn about how your tax dollars are spent, check out the Budget Bytes brochure. You can also pick up a printed copy at City Hall, the Helen Hall Library, and the Hometown Heroes Recreation Center.

City Council is currently reviewing the proposed FY 2023 Operating and Capital Budget in a series of work sessions over the coming weeks. Members of the public are invited to review the proposed budget and share their feedback at the end of each work session, which typically lasts one to two hours.  Scroll down for the dates, times, and budget items to be discussed at each session. Comments and feedback regarding the proposed FY 2023 budget can also be sent directly to the City Council.  All budget sessions are streamed live on the City's Facebook page and are recorded. Each workshop can be viewed after the fact at http://leaguecitytx.swagit.com/city-council

After the workshops, there is a public hearing on August 9 where members of the public can also offer comments and input. Changes can be made to the budget if Council requests them. Council will then vote to approve the budget ordinance on August 23, with a second and final reading scheduled for August 13.

All workshops are open to the public and will be held at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center at 6 p.m. See the dates below to learn when specific budget and CIP items will be discussed.
