Friday morning the Fire Department responded to a house fire on Golden Shores Lane at 10:02 a.m. The fire was in the kitchen and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames confining the damage to the stove area. There was additional smoke damage to the rest of the house and water damage to several rooms. To add insult to injury most of the water damage came from a busted water pipe on the dishwasher not directly involved in the fire. No one was injured and the occupants evacuated the home before the first fire units arrived. The response time of the first engine was 6 minutes and 34 seconds. Firefighters are commended for meeting the goal of confining the fire to the room of origin, a difficult goal to meet. The occupants were home when the fire started, safely evacuated, and met to confirm all were out. The Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause.
