SKYWARN Storm Spotter Volunteer Training February 2

In partnership with the City of Friendswood, League City is hosting a free SKYWARN Storm Spotter training class on Thursday, February 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center.

SKYWARN Storm Spotters are volunteers within the community who provide information about local weather hazards to the National Weather Service. SKYWARN volunteers play an important role in keeping their local communities safe by helping the NWS provide timely and accurate warning for dangers including tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and flash floods. 

Training Includes:

  • Basics of thunderstorm development
  • Fundamentals of storm structure
  • Identifying potential severe weather features
  • Information to report
  • How to report information
  • Basic severe weather safety
