[ARCHIVED] League City Patrons of the Parks and Arts Meeting February 4

Patrons of the Parks and Arts Foundation Now Accepting Members

Attend the Meeting on Feb 4 to Learn More and Pay Membership Dues

League City residents, families, and local businesses are encouraged to attend the first meeting of the League City Patrons of the Parks and Arts Foundation—a new non-profit dedicated to the preservation of land for League City parks, improving the amenities and programs at City parks, and the support of public art—both visual and performance related art—throughout the League City community.

The first quarterly meeting of the Patrons—scheduled for 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center—will include an overview of the non-profit’s mission and bylaws and will outline various upcoming projects and initiatives. The meeting will also serve as a way to collect dues. Annual membership dues are $15 a person, $25 a family, and $50 a business. Checks and cash will be accepted at the meeting.

Those wanting to join the Foundation can also mail a check to the League City Community Center, 400 South Kansas, League City 77573. Checks should be made out to the League City Patrons of the Parks and Arts Foundation. Please indicate the individual names in the memo section of the check.

In addition to financially supporting League City initiatives dedicated to parks and the arts, Foundation members are encouraged to volunteer their time at parks and art-related events, projects, programs, and fundraising efforts and/or provide their expertise and knowledge with the planning and execution of such events, projects, and programs through sub-committee work. Quarterly meetings will be held so Patron members can provide feedback and input on what parks and art-related projects they would like to see pursued using city dollars and/or donations.

Complimentary coffee and donuts will be served at the February 4 quarterly meeting which will also include an election of three members to serve on the Foundation Board. Citizens or business owners who want to serve on the Foundation’s board can nominate themselves at the meeting. The Patrons of the Parks Foundation Board consists of seven total members—two members from the City Parks Board, two from the Keep League City Beautiful Citizen Committee, and three general patron members. This board meets monthly.
