League City volunteer firefighters, EMS staff, and members of the community took part in a “push-in” ceremony on August 8 to celebrate the arrival of a new ambulance. The ceremony honored a tradition dating back to the 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses and had to be pushed backward into the fire station after a call.
In addition to celebrating the arrival of the new ambulance, known as Medic 3, EMS also recently designated a fifth ambulance that will serve as a “peak” ambulance operating during the busiest 14 hours of each day. This ambulance will greatly expand the city’s capacity to respond to emergencies and provides additional EMS personnel.
